The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us how fragile global supply chains can be and highlighted the benefits of local manufacturing. Wiring Solutions Plus is a 100% Australian-owned and operated business. All our work is performed in South Australia by a highly-skilled workforce.
Since the pandemic began, we have seen increased enquiries from businesses looking for locally made cable and wiring components. Unfortunately, many of them were struggling to meet customer demand due to increased and unpredictable lead times from their offshore cable assembly and wiring loom manufacturers. On top of that, freight costs skyrocketed.
Many of these enquiries have resulted in ongoing partnerships, with Wiring Solutions Plus replacing their offshore wiring harness manufacturing suppliers. For these businesses, dealing with a local company makes a lot of sense. We respond quickly, operate on the time zone, there’s no language barrier, lower freight costs, and superior workmanship quality. Plus, our ability to quickly prototype components supports innovation and new product development.
But, it’s more than that.
We’re proud to be a local business that employs a skilled, local workforce and partners with other local businesses. Everyone benefits from this kind of local supply chain. It creates more jobs for locals who then spend their wages with local businesses, and so the process continues.
Wiring Solutions Plus was established in Adelaide in 1979 and continues to be a family-owned operated business to this day. Our family values are evident in our organisational culture; our team are almost like an extended family. We invest in our people because we know they are our greatest asset.
In 1994 we obtained our ISO 9001 Quality Management Certification – the first electrical wiring harness manufacturer in South Australia to do so. Quality has always been important to us, and our onshore operations are crucial to ensuring our cable and wiring harnesses continue to be of the highest quality.
Our customers have come to rely on us for our exceptional workmanship, stable production times and our ability to provide innovative solutions. Because of their ongoing support, we have built a strong reputation for manufacturing high-quality wire harnesses and cable assemblies.
For us, we have experienced a silver lining from the COVID pandemic. We are grateful for this; we know it hasn’t been easy for everyone. We believe it shows there is a future for manufacturing in Australia, especially in highly-skilled, technical industries like ours.
